DATUK NICOL DAVID romped to her second successive title this year by capturing the 2014 Cleveland Classic after a 13-11, 11-5, 11-6 win over Hong Kong qualifier Annie Au in the final.
Annie, who had upset second and fourth seed Laura Massaro and Alison Waters respectively en route to the final, couldn’t pull off a third giant killing and succumbed in straight games to the world No. 1.
Nicol, who had also clinched the Tournament of Champions last week, has started the season in fine form by clinching two consecutive titles.
This victory is the Penangite’s seventh straight Women’s Squash Association (WSA) Tour title, and sets her up nicely for the Women’s World Open Championship, in her hometown in March.
