The 28th edition of the SEA Games in Singapore in 2015 will see a total of 36 sports being contested including a little known discipline called Floor ball which originated in Sweden in the 70s and which gained popularity among the Nordic states.
This follows the meeting of the Southeast Asian Games Federation Council (SEAGF) this week in Singapore which gave the nod to for a total of 402 events to be put on offer.
But while Floorball which is a type of floor hockey played indoors, and also rowing, equestrian, boxing, petanque, and volleyball were given the green light, some of the other more popular sports have been left out.
Among them are karate, weightlifting, and wrestling.
The SEA Games in Singapore next year will be held on 5-16 June.
