Datuk Azzuddin Ahmad, the general secretary of the Asean Football Federation (AFF) said today that the ASEAN All-Star team is not just a one-off event where the plan is to have it on a yearly basis.
The ASEAN All-Star which features players from across the region will take on the Indonesian national team in a fund raising game tomorrow night at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.
“With the blessing of the AFF Council, we are hoping that this ASEAN All-Star concept will not be just a one-off event,” said Datuk Azzuddin. “We believe that mooting this game is good way to foster the relationship between players from across the region.
“So we hope that we can continue to hold the event on a yearly basis to not only build better relationships but also to always be mindful that this event will always be about raising fund to assist our ASEAN brothers when there is a need.”
At the same pre-match press conference, Datuk Azzuddin added the quantum which will be channelled to the victims of typhoon Haiyan will depend very much on the amount collected.
Ticket price has been fixed at between IDR 25,000 to IDR 500,000 with at least 50,000 tickets being printed.
“The amount to be given to charity will depend on the amount collected, minus the operational costs,” he added. “If the amount is too low, then the AFF Council might consider to add to the overall amount.”
