Malaysia’s challenge in the men’s doubles in the World Championships in Copenhagen is still very much alive when seventh seeds Hoon Thien How-Tan Wee Kiong made it to the quarter-finals but it was the end of the road for Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong .
In match marked by some bad line calls Thein How-Wee Kiong survived a fierce onslaught by Japan’s Takehashi Kamura-Keijo Conoda before prevailing with a 19-21, 21-17, 21-19 win after a 63 minute battle at the Ballerup Super Arena.
The Malaysians will face Taiwan’s Lee Sheng Mu-Tsai Chia Hsin for a place in the semi-final. The Taiwanese defeated Japan’s Hiroyuki Enda-Kenichi Hayakawa 23-21, 21-17 to advance.
