* Rosman’s resignation is a ‘shocker’
The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) was rocked when singles coach Rashid Sidek and women’s doubles coach Rosman Razak just hours before the Maybank Malaysia Open Superseries Premier gets underway at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil tomorrow (Tuesday).
While Rashid’s resignation did not come as a surprise, Rosman’s resignation has been described as a “shocker” by badminton officials.
BAM’s newly appointed technical director Morten Frost would only say, “I have no comments to make on that” until we issue a press release tomorrow (Tuesday) because I still have some cases pending” from other coaches who were all given new contracts with new terms and conditions following the expiry of their old contacts at the end of last year.
The contracts were further extended for three months until the end of March 31.
“They have asked for an extension to go through the contract until tomorrow…so I will wait till then. We will issue a press release on the matter. Until then I have to comments on that,” said the Dane who took over his new job on March 1.
The shock resignations of the duo sent shock waves in the badminton fraternity. Some expected Rashid’s decision to quit but Rosman was a real surprise.
BAM general manager Kenny Goh confirmed the resignations and said “it is true the two have resigned” but in the same breath described Rosman resignation as a “shocker”.
According to Kenny, Frost has promised to get the replacements but for now BAM will make do with the present set up of coaches.
