Indonesian pair Mohammad Ahsan – Hendra Setiawan won their second men’s doubles crown of the Maybank Malaysia Open in three years when they beat Lee Yong Dae – Yoo Yeon Seong from South Korea in three very pulsating sets.
Ahsan- Setiawan won 14-21, 21-15, 23-21.
The match was anything but smooth sailing for either side as nothing was given easily for Yong Dae – Yeon Seong to take the first set 21-14.
But Ahsan –Setiawan fought back to take the second set 21-15 to force the match into rubber.
In the third set, the game was point for point up until the interval at 11-11.
Several mistakes later allowed Ahsan – Setiawan to stretch to a 18-14 lead and then 20-17.
Yong Dae – Yeon Seong then drew level at 20-20 before Ahsan – Setiawan kept their nerves to win 23-21.
