Pelumba muda berbakat negara, Khairul Idham Pawi bakal merealisasikan impian yang menjadi idaman kebanyakan pelumba apabila akan tampil buat pertama kali dalam saingan Moto3 Grand Prix Dunia atas tiket wildcard pada pusingan ke-14 di Litar Motorland, Aragon, Sepanyol pada 27 September depan.
Malah berita baik itu turut berlangsung hanya seminggu selepas hari lahir Khairul Idham yang akan genap berusia 17 tahun pada 20 September depan.
Pelumba Honda Team Asia itu diberikan peluang beraksi atas tiket wildcard berikutan aksi cemerlang di dalam Kejuaraan Moto3 Remaja Dunia CEV Repsol FIM 2015 di mana selepas enam pusingan, Khairul berjaya meraih tiga podium iaitu ketika muncul naib juara di Le Mans dan Perlumbaan 1 di Barcelona serta kedudukan ketiga pada Perlumbaan 2.
Juara perlumbaan kategori Asia Dream Cup Kejuaraan Motosikal Asia FIM 2014 itu kini berada di tangga ketika keseluruhan dengan 80 mata, hanya 26 mata ketinggalan kepada pendahulu yang lebih berpengalaman, Aron Canet Babero (106 mata) dan Joan Mir Mayrata (100 mata).
Bercakap tentang penampilan pertama di pentas kejuaraan dunia Moto3, Khairul berkata, “Saya gembira kerana akan tampil buat pertama kali dalam Kejuaraan Dunia ini di Litar Motorland, Aragon. Honda memberi tiket wildcard ini kepada saya dan saya akan mencuba yang terbaik untuk pasukan Honda Team Asia. Saya berterima kasih kepada Honda dan juga Boon iew Honda kerana memberi peluang dan kepercayaan kepada saya,” jelas Khairul Idham.
KHAIRUL EARNS MOTO3 WILDCARD IN ARAGON GP
Khairul Idham Pawi gets an early birthday present when Honda Team Asia announced the Malaysian will make his debut in the Moto3 World Championship as a wildcard at Motorland Aragon this 27th September.
The news came three days after the youngster signed a four-year contract to ride for Boon Siew Honda Sdn Bhd alongside reigning FIM Asia Road Racing Championship Champion, Zaqhwan Zaidi.
Turning 17-years old this September 20, Khairul is set to battle the world’s best Moto3 riders, including compatriot, Zulfahmi Khairuddin and Asia Dream Cup champion, Hiroki Ono.
Khairul has proven himself a worthy candidate for the wildcard slot base on his performance in the Moto3 Junior World Championship. Although 2015 marks his debut year in the MotoGP feeder series, Khairul has impressed by bagging three podiums from the first six races and is currently ranked third overall with 80 points, 26 points adrift leader, Aron Canet.
“I’m so happy to debut in the World Championship at Motorland Aragon. Honda gave me a wildcard and I will try to do the best for Honda Team Asia and my family. Than you Honda and Boon Siew Honda for this opportunity,” he said.
Renowned German architect Hermann Tilke was commissioned to design the Motorland Aragon circuit, which is 5.077km long and has 17 turns. The Moto3 race will run for 20 laps with a total distance of 101.6km.
