South Korea star Son Heung-min says he already feels at home with Tottenham after announcing his arrival in the Premier League with the winner against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Son had scored twice on his home debut in Tottenham’s Europa League victory against Qarabag of Azerbaijan on Thursday and his dream start continued as he netted his first Premier League goal with a cool finish in the second half at White Hart Lane.
The 23-year-old, signed from German club Bayer Leverkusen for £18 million ($27 million, 24 million euros), was given a standing ovation by Tottenham’s fans when he was substituted in the 78th minute and he admitted his first weeks in England couldn’t have gone any better.
“I’m very happy because we won the first home game and I scored my first Premier League goal. I hope every week is like this,” Son told Sky Sports.
Son has had no trouble adapting to the unique demands of English football and said he is relishing the league’s combination of pace and power as it suits his whole-hearted game.
“It’s amazing (to play in the Premier League), a really different style to the Bundesliga, more power and speed. I like this and am happy to play,” he added.
Son has been warmly received by his new team-mates and Tottenham’s French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris said the Korean had provided a spark after the team’s slow start to the season.
“I think you can see Son Heung-min is happy here and the influence he has on the game,” Lloris said.
