# Red Eagles retain three other foreigners
Â
Premier League champions and Malaysia Cup runners-up Kedah have released their prolific scorer Chidi Edeh but have retained three other foreigners for their M-League campaign next year.
The other three foreigners in the Red Eagles squad utility player Bang Seung Hwan (Korea), Kosovo midfielder Liridon Krasniqi and Brazilian striker and dead ball specialist Sandro da Silva.
“We have made minimal changes to the squad that won the Premier League title and finished runners-up in the Malaysia Cup,” said Kedah FA secretary Aminuddin Omar.
“The present squad has a bright future and the experience gained by the young players will stand in good stead for next year’s campaign.
“We have retained about 90 per cent of the players from this year’s squad. The Super League will be a tough competition but we have faith in the team.
“There is understanding and rhythm in the present team and we don’t want major changes and start all over again. This team can go far after their impressive showing in the Malaysia Cup.”
In the Malaysia Cup final played at the Shah Alam Stadium on Dec 12 the Red Eagles fell to a 2-0 defeat to Selangor. The Red Giants have now won the prestigious Malaysia Cup 33 times.
Chidi Edeh’s replacement in the Kedah team is Brazil’s former Under-20 international Carlos Eduardo de Souza Horesta. Chidi Edeh scored 14 goals for Kedah in all competitions.
