Defending Myanmar National League (MNL) champions Yangon United began the new season on a positive note when they picked up their first silverware of 2016 with a 1-0 win over Ayeyawady United at the Aung San Stadium.
The only goal of the game came in the 37th minute when Adilson dos Santos Souza latched on to a cross from Kyi Lin from the right for Yangon to lift the 2016 MFF Charity Cup.
The departure of Brazilian duo Emerson and Cesar who followed coach Miodrag Jesic to Sarajevo seems to have little effect on Yangon’s experience as they relied on the returned-to-fitness Kyi Lin and also new arrival Kyaw Min Oo.
Min Oo had previously played for Ayeyawady United.
