Thailandās Kiradech Aphibarnrat is confident he can put up a strong challenge at the World Golf Championships (WGC) Cadillac Championship which starts on Thursday.
Kiradech, the 2013 Asian Tour Order of Merit champion, will make his second appearance at the Trump National Doral course after finishing in 67th place in 2014.
He admits that he struggled in his first appearance at Doral but he will put the experience to good use when he challenges for the prestigious title against the elite field at the US$9.5 million event.
After qualifying for the first WGC event of the year by finishing inside the top-50 on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) at the end of the 2015 season, Kiradech is determined to put on a good show.
He will be joined by Asian Tour stalwarts Anirban Lahiri of India, the reigning Asian Tour number one, K.T. Kim of Korea and Australians Scott Hend, Nathan Holman and Marcus Fraser, winner of the Maybank Championship Malaysia a fortnight ago.
āI played at Doral before but I had bad results. But now Iāll be going there with more experience and my game is good. I know how to play on the course now. It is a tough course and you need to be patient. Hopefully I play better this time,ā said Kiradech.
āI feel that my game is better now so I have some confidence that I will do better. I remember I played well in my opening eight holes but after that I struggled. I have quite bad memories there but it is good to learn from the bad experience,ā he added.
Kiradech will tee off alongside Charley Hoffman and Emiliano Grillo in the first two days of the WGC Cadillac Championship.
