Great Britain’s Cal Crutchlow won only his second MotoGP with victory in the Australian race at Phillip Island on Sunday.
Crutchlow, on a LCR Honda, capitalised when newly-crowned world champion Marc Marquez made an error and crashed out on lap 10 after holding a big lead.
Crutchlow beat Movistar Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi by 4.218secs with Spain’s Maverick Vinales third on his Suzuki.
The race turned when Marquez, who claimed the world championship in Japan last weekend, came off his Repsol Honda bike.
Crutchlow, competing in his 103rd MotoGP, maintained a solid race pace and held off the nine-time world champion Rossi to the chequered flag with a battle between Vinales and Andrea Dovizioso for third.
Pol Espargaro was fifth and Jorge Lorenzo sixth with two races left in the championship in Malaysia and Spain. –Â Agence France-Presse
