Abduh Lestaluhu said that Indonesia should not have to fear Vietnam when the two sides clashed in the first leg, semi finals of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2016 on Saturday.
The Indonesian leftback said that this week that even though results between the two teams in recent times do not favour them, he still feels that his team has the confidence to get a favourable result playing at home.
Prior to the AFF Suzuki Cup, Indonesia played two friendlies against Vietnam – the first was a 2-2 draw in Sleman before Vietnam took a 3-2 win in Hanoi.
But not after Indonesia took the lead twice.
“Vietnam are a good and this was obvious when they won Group B,” said Abduh. “But I believe that in terms of quality, we are basically on par.”
“The most important factor is that we should continue to play like we did in Manila. If we can do that, then I believe that we can be competitive.”
The Indonesia-Vietnam clash will be held at the Pakansari Stadium in Bogor on 3 December 2016 before the return tie four days later in Hanoi.
