Yangon United have opened a four-point lead at the top of the Myanmar National League 2017 when they beat Shan United by the slimmest of 1-0 scoreline.
With the score all tied scoreless for much of the game, striker Kyaw Ko Ko struck home the winner directly from a wicked corner kick.
“Both teams put in plenty of effort but the advantage was with the team that made the least mistakes,” said Yangon United head coach U Tin Maung Tun afterwards.
“We took advantage of that mistake and scored the winning goal in the last minute”.
In the meantime, defending champions Yadanarbon returned to the runner-up spot when they beat GFA 2-0 at home in Mandalar Thiri.
GFA defender Atanga Effa Kostka conceded an own goal before Yadanarbon striker Aung Thu grabbed the second goal in the 75th minute.
Elsewhere, Chin United beat Zwekapin 3-1 as Ayeyawady United edged Southern Myanmar 2-0 while Nay Pyi Taw beat Rakine United 2-1 and Magwe and Hantharwady United battled to a 1-1 draw.
