Success of WTCC Race of Qatar coverage leads to full-season partnership

Premier entertainment company OSN will bring live action from all FIA World Touring Car Championship races exclusively to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in 2017.

The extended agreement between OSN and WTCC promoter Eurosport Events follows OSN’s successful broadcast of the 2016 WTCC finale in Qatar. OSN will also show highlights of all races, the WTCC All-Access magazine programme and the season review.

François Ribeiro, Head of Eurosport Events, the WTCC promoter, said: “It was always intended that OSN’s live coverage of WTCC DHL Race of Qatar last year would be a precursor to a wider agreement to cover the entire 2017 season. Following the success of OSN’s live coverage of the event, which included a win for Morocco’s Mehdi Bennani and clearly captivated audiences, we’re very pleased to announce the continuation of our partnership with OSN. With two races in the MENA region, 2017 is shaping up to be a very exciting season and we’re delighted OSN will be an important component.”

Andy Warkman, SVP, Sport & Sports Production, OSN, said: “We are focused on bringing exciting live and exclusive sports to our subscribers. FIA World Touring Car Championship races have a significant fan following in the region, which was evident in the strong response to our live coverage of the 2016 finale in Qatar. The extended partnership with Eurosport Events further cements OSN’s commitment to deliver more exciting sport throughout 2017.”

WTCC coverage on OSN will be broadcast in the following countries: Algeria, Bahrain, Chad, Djibouti, Egypt, Gaza Strip, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, UAE, West Bank and Yemen. Meanwhile, WTCC Race of Morocco opens the 2017 World Touring Car Championship season in Marrakech from 7-9 April. For more information on OSN, visit osn.com.
