Defending SEA Games champions Thailand will send a total of 829 athletes for KL2017 with the sole purpose of winning a hat-trick of crowns after successes in 2013 and also 2015.
With 452 men and 367 women alongside 399 officials, the Thai delegation would easily rank as the second highest number of attendees next to hosts Malaysia.
Prayut Chan-o-cha, the Prime Minister of Thailand, has advised the Thai athletes to keep up good sportsmanship in order to pursue excellence during the Games.
“Please don’t forget to show some integrity, abide by the rules, and never argue with the judges or referees, thus show some respect to the crowd as well. The country is relying on all of you,” Prayut said.
Prayut also suggested that all athletes must maintain focus and practice proper breathing to enhance their concentration. – BY MAIZATUL JAMNY MUHAMMAD ROSLI
