MOROGEN Komoran and Nor Saadah Abdul Wahab gave Malaysia the one and only gold medal in Para Archery at the ASEAN Para Games by winning the Compound Open Mixed Team event at the Synthetic Turf Field in Bukit Jalil on Friday (22 Sept).
Morogen and Nur Saadah scored 138 to avert the strong challenge from Toto Wastomi/Tutik Yumiati of Indonesia whose score of 117 gave them silver.
Singapore’s Nur Syahidah Alim/Robert Fuchs came in third with 133, defeating Thailand’s Aungaphinan Anon/Panmai Ratchanee who scored 126, earlier the same day.
In the Recurve Open Mixed Team, Indonesian duo Muhammad Nurhadi/Vironika Ninik Umardyani showed their prowess by ousting Khutawisap Wasana/Netsiri Hanreuchai of Thailand.
Malaysian team of Ananthy Lachimanan/Hasihin Sanawi grabbed the bronze medal after defeating Philippines pair Agustina Maximo Bantiloc/Giovanni Mawagay Ola.
Morogen and Nor Saadah attributed their win to the tremendous support showed by all Malaysians at the venue and all over the country.
“We are truly happy to bring home this gold medal for Malaysia after suffering defeats in our respective finals yesterday. This is for you Malaysia,” said Morogen and Nor Saadah.
Malaysia ends the Para Archery competition with one gold, two silver and five bronze medals.
