Joko Driyono, the deputy president of the FA of Indonesia (PSSI) has been appointed as the new vice president of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF).
The appointment was formalised at the AFF Congress which was held this morning in Bali.
The appointment of Joko came about following the withdrawal of Dr Tran Quoc Tuan, the vice president of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), who has since taken up a position as an Exco member of the AFC.
In the meantime, it was announced at the Press Conference that the PSSI have collaborated with the FA of Thailand (FAT) in wanting to put forward a joint bid for the FIFA World Cup in 2034.
The announcement was made at the 12th AFF Council Meeting that was held immediately after the Congress.
“Both the PSSI and the FAT have the support of their respective government and as such, we at the AFF is supportive of this joint bid,” said Dato’ Sri Azzuddin Ahmad, the general secretary of the AFF.
The exact mechanism of the bid process will be announced at a later date.
