The FIA Formula 4 Southeast Asia Championship (F4 SEA) returns to Pampanga to the FIA Grade-4 Clark International Speedway on October 20-22 for the second event of the 2017 season.

The event will be sponsored by the Philippine PETRON Corporation, whose support will not only contribute to the development of the sport in the region, but also assists in the creation of employment in the motorsport industry.

Event 2 will see an action-fuelled weekend in a bid to out-race the weather and find a champion for all six races.

Last year Typhoon Karen wreaked havoc with the schedule and Typhoon Khanun is threatening to do the same this weekend.

Last year’s inaugural F4 SEA championship brought FIA Formula racing back to the Philippines after many years and saw home grown racing heroes Gabriel Cabrera and Angie King, compete for bragging rights.

More Filipinos lined up to test at the track including dynamic duo and Manilla natives, brothers Sam and Ben Grimes.

With Cabrera qualifying on pole for Race 5 and finishing strong in all races, the hope for a Filipino champion was high.  But on Sunday morning, Typhoon Karen bombarded the track, ending the final race of the weekend before it began.

Indian driver, Akash Gowda revelled in the wet and wild conditions to take home the event champion’s cup, narrowly beating Cabrera in third.

This year, the Filipino leg comes hot on the heels of the Malaysian F1 Grand Prix, which witnessed spectacular driving from event champion Daniel Cao.

However, it was local-driving ace Nazim Azman who stole the thunder at Sepang International Circuit when he became the only Malaysian to win an F4 race supporting the Malaysian F1 GP.

Event 2 will be a celebration of all things Filipino. As the official fuel and engine oil supplier to the F4 SEA Championship, PETRON will once again provide their high quality products Blaze 100 fuel and fully-synthetic Blaze Racing engine oil to power the cars toward victory.

The F4 SEA Championship is looking forward to an exhilarating weekend at Clark International Speedway which will see the Grimes siblings fly the Pambansang Watawat for the Philippines.
