# Malaysian ace falls in the first round to Japanese

# Vivian Hoo-Khe Wei also first round victims in women’s doubles

# Winning debut for V Shem and new partner Ee Yi in men’s doubles

After the shock defeat in the second round in last week’s Danisa Denmark Open former world No 1 Lee Chong Wei suffered another embarassing exit when he was knocked out in first round in the Yonex French Open in Paris on Wednesday.

The Malaysian who celebrated his 35th birthday last Saturday was floored in straight games 14-21, 15-21 in 37 minutes to Japan’s up and coming Kenta Nishimoto. Last week Chong Wei, currently ranked No 7, fell to to India’s H.S. Prannoy in the second round with the Indian winning 21-17, 11-21, 21-19.

There were more shocks for the Malaysians when Vivain Hoo-Woon Khe Wei also went out in the first round – losing 22-14, 19-21 to Japan’s seventh seeds Shiho Tanaka-Koharu Yonemoto in 44 minutes.

There was disappointment also for men’s doubles pair Goh Sze FeiNur Izzuddin who failed to ride on their first game win and lost 21-19, 18-21, 19-21 in 61 minutes.

However, there was not all gloom when newly paired Goh V Shem-Teo-Ee Yi, playing their first international tournament roared to a winning start. The Malaysians outplayed Hong Kong’s seasoned pair Or Chin Chung-Tang Chun Man in straight games 21-10, 21-15. – BY RIZAL ABDULLAH
