# All three Malaysian mixed doubles pairs fall in the first round
This was not expected but it did happen at the USD700,000 Tahoe China Open Superseries Premier in Fuzhou, China when all three mixed doubles Malaysian pairs were wiped out in the first round on Wednesday.
Heading the list of exits were eighth seeds and world No 10 Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing who fell in straight games 15-21, 9-21 in only 34 minutes to Hong Kong’s number nine ranked Tang Chun Man-Tse Ying Suet.
There were shocks at the Haixia Sports Center in Fuzhou when Goh Soon-Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie, ranked 14, were ousted 22-20, 16-21, 21-19 by Japan’s Takuro Hoki-Sayaka Hirota, ranked a low 61, after a 65-minute battle.
World No 31 Chan Peng Soon-Cheah Yee See were also shown the exit in a three-game battle by Thailand’s Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Puttita Supajirakul. The Thais won 21-15, 15-21, 21-17 in 64 minutes.
Indonesia also had mixed fortunes in the mixed fortunes. Top seeds Praveen Jordan-Debby Susanto, ranked No 4, fell 18-21, 18-21 to China’s Zhang Nan-Liu Xuanxuan.
However, Olympics and world champions Tontowi Ahmad-Liliyana Natsir kept Indonesian’s flag flying with a 21-15, 21-18 win over Denmark’s Anders Skaarup Rasmussen-Line Kjaersfeldt.BY RIZAL ABDULLAH
