The Asian Games 2018 has drawn a record number of teams taking part in men’s football where a total of 32 teams from the Asian region have confirmed their participation.
“The number of teams is amazing,” said Indonesia Asian Games Organising Committee head Erick Thohir. “The number of football participants is equal to the FIFA World Cup.”
The 18th Asian Games, to be held in Jakarta and Palembang, has been slated for 18 August to 2 September 2018.
Men’s football is an Under-23 affair at the Asian Games, with each team allowed three over-aged players.
