Terengganu, a known powerhouse in Malaysian sports, has already picked a 571 strong contingent to this year’s Sukma (National Games) in Perak in September.
The Terengganu Sports Council has also picked 178 officials and coaches to Ipoh as the East Coast state chase for the overall title this year. At the last edition of the biennial games, Terengganu finished third overall with 47 gold, 42 silver, and 44 bronze.
The last time Terengganu won the overall title was in 2012 in Pahang with a 62-24-31 tally.
Terengganu Sports Council director Ibni Amin Busu said Terengganu will compete in 29 sports, athletics, hockey, football, judo and cycling.
“The bulk of the medals are targeted in the above-mentioned sports, including archery, taekwondo and silat olahraga,” said Ibni Amin at a Berbuka Puasa and 100 days countdown to the Perak Sukma in Gong Badak, Kuala Terengganu. – BY RIZAL ABDULLAH
