A double from Lee Seungwoo helped South Korea to a 3-1 win over Vietnam in the semi-finals of the men’s football event at the Asian Games 2018 here tonight at the Pakan Sari Stadium.
Vietnam who has been in inspiring form to make the final four this year put up a tight game at the start only to fall to a seventh minute strike from Lee, who squeezed in past two defenders for a left foot shot.
In the 28th minute, Huang Ui Jo beat the off side trap to beat Vietnam keeper Bui Tien Dung for the second time on the night.
With Vietnam struggling to keep up with the short passes from the South Korean, they then conceded the third goal of the match in the 55th minute with Lee once again knocking in from some hesitant defending.
And while Vietnam managed to pull a goal back with a fabulous freekick from Tran Minh Vuong in the 70th minute, it could not ignite a revival as the score stayed to the end.
With the win, South Korea will take on Japan in the final of the men’s football event at the Asian Games following the latter’s 1-0 win over the United Arab Emirates.
