A second half goal from Ali Mabkhout showed defending champions Australia the exit from the AFC Asian Cup 2019 when they fell to a 1-0 loss to hosts United Arab Emirates in the quarterfinals early this morning.
There were changes to the line-ups for both teams but that did little to curb their enthusiasm as Australia and UAE put up a highly entertaining match throughout.
But in the end, it was the UAE who grabbed the winner coming in the 68th minute when Mabkhout intercepted a Degenek’s back pass before rounding Mat Ryan to score.
