A total of three nominations have been received for the post of PSSI President and Deputy President with the election due to be held in November 2019.
The pair-ups are Rahim Soekasah alongside Doli Sinomba Siregar and Komjen Mochamad Iriawan with Cucu Sumantrii and then Arif Wicaksono partnering Doni Setiabudi.
“I have been involved in football for more than 35 years. With Pelita Jaya and also BTN (National Team Board) PSSI among others. I don’t want to promise the world to Indonesian football because I know it is not easy and there’s a lot of hard work ahead,” said Rahim (middle), who is also the current chairman of Brisbane Roar.
“There’s certainly potential in Indonesian football. The important thing is that we keep on learning and continue to be better. Among the things that we need to address would be the issue of unruly fans and also Mafia in football,” said Mochamad Iriawan, who was part of the team that build the foundation for Liga 1 side Persib Bandung.
“We need to bring teams in the top flight to another level and I believe that with the partnership that I have with clubs from Europe that is a big possibility. We also need to introduce VAR into the game and we can do that,” added Arif Wicaksono.
The nominees will go through a vetting process before they can be confirmed to take part in the PSSI Congress to elect new officer bearers for the Period 2019-2023 to be held on 2 November 2019.
