A hattrick from Stefano Lilipaly gave Borneo FC Samarinda not only a 3-1 win over Dewa United but also their continued stay at the top of the 2023/24 BRI Liga 1.

In the match that was played at the Segiri Stadium in Samarinda, the 33-year-old Indonesian international fired from the spot in the 25th minute to give the home team just the 1-0 lead at the break.

Two further goals in the 61st and 75th minute completed Lilipaly’s hattrick as Borneo FC got comfortable at 3-0 in front.

A late goal from Septian Bagaskara right at the end gave the consolation for Dewa United as Borneo FC picked up their tenth win of the season.

The 35 points were enough for Borneo FC to stay top as they opened up a four point advantage over second-placed Persib Bandung, who beat PSS Sleman 4-1 at the Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium.

An own goal from Thales Nataniel just three minutes into the game gave Persib Bandung the best of start as David Da Silva then put them further ahead in the 21st minute.

Kim Kurniawan’s 37th minute strike for PSS Sleman put the score at 2-1 at the break.

However, Persib then stepped on the gas into the second half to score twice more through Frets Butuan (70th minute) and Beckham Putra (77th) for the well-deserved win.

The full points gave Persib their eighth win from 17 matches played for 31 points – the same as third-placed Madura United, who this week held Arema FC to a 1-1 draw away at the Kapten I Wayan Dipta Stadium.
