Indonesia head coach Bima Sakti said that it was ‘all down to hard work’ following last night’s 1-1 draw against Ecuador in their opening game of Group A of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium.

“We have to be thankful for the 1-1 which was the result of the hard work of the players, who gave it their all. But it was a tough game,” said Bima.

“We have two days of recovery and hopefully that can improve the players’ condition for the next match.”

Indonesia took the lead through striker Arkhan Kaka in the 22nd minute before Ecuador responded through Allen Obando six minutes later.

Added Ecuador head coach Diego Martinez: “It was a tough game; we wanted to win the three points. However, Indonesia played a good match with effective defence and good running, which made it difficult for us to score.”
