Vietnam picked up their first win in the ASEAN Women’s Futsal Championship 2024 when they bested Myanmar 5-2 as Thailand crushed host Philippines 7-0 at the Philsports Arena.

Playing in their first game of the competition, captain Thanh Hang set the ball rolling with the lead after just three minutes as Myanmar replied with the equaliser through Nang Seng Brim in the tenth minute.

Sett Nwe Ni then popped in the lead for Myanmar in the 16th minute to put Vietnam under pressure to the end of the first half.

But Vietnam were not deterred.

Tailing by 2-1 and just a minute into the second half, Phuong Anh fired in the equalizer as Bien Thi Hang then put them 3-2 in front with a solo finish in the 25th minute.

Vietnam then made sure of the full points with their fourth goal of the game through Thanh Ngan’s 32nd penalty conversion and then the 38th minute finish from K’Thua.

In the meantime, Thailand picked up their second win of the competition with a 7-0 whitewashing of the Philippines.

There was no escape for host Philippines this time around as Thailand found the back of the net in the sixth minute through Sangrawee Meekham before doubling the lead just two minutes later through Sawitree Mamyalee.

Thailand ended the first half 4-0 in front with two further goals from Paerploy Huajaipetch in the 13th minute and Arriya Saetoen in the 17th minute.

The rest of the goals for Thailand were scored by Lalida Chimpabut (in the 25th minute), Sangrawee Meekham (29th) and Nattamon Artkla (39th).
