Arriya Saetoen gave Thailand their third win in the ASEAN Women’s Futsal Championship 2024 after beating Myanmar 2-1 at the PhilSports Arena.

Following from their win over Indonesia and Philippines earlier, Thailand were held scoreless at the end of a frantic first-half following some resolute defending from the Myanmar girls.

Thailand finally broke through in the 23rd minute with a crisp left-footed shot from Sangrawi Meekham as Myanmar then replied off Yun Me Me Lwin in the 34th minute to put both teams back on level.

However, Arriya’s presence would prove pivotal when she scored the winner just a minute later to give the Thais the full nine points from three matches played.

In the meantime, Vietnam made a superb start to their match against Indonesia when Nguyen Phuong Anh scored in the very first minute of play as Bui Thi Trang then struck a double (5th and 6th minute) for them to take a 3-0 lead.

Vietnam would finish the first half 4-0 in front with an easy tap-in from Bien Thi Hang.

Taking a more defensive stance after the break, Le Thi Thanh Ngan then rounded off the fine evening for Vietnam with their fifth goal of the game in the 38th minute.
