Vietnam thumped Philippines 6-1 to set up a clash against Thailand tomorrow to decide the top two positions in the round robin clash of the ASEAN Women’s Futsal Championship 2024.
At the PhilSports Arena this evening, Vietnam took a while to exert their presence before going into the lead in the 13th minute through Tran Thi Lan Mai for just the 1-0 lead at the break.
Le Thi Thanh Ngan then put Vietnam ahead in the 21st as the Philippines then pulled a goal back in the 25th minute through Alisha Clare Mendoza Del Campo.
However, Vietnam stepped on the pedal to score a flurry of goals through Nguyen Phuong Anh (26th), Lan Mai (30th), Tran Thi Thu Xuan (31st) and K’Thua K’Thua (33rd) for the well-deserved victory.
The win gave Vietnam the full nine points from three matches played and where they will take on Thailand tomorrow to decide the top two positions at the end of the preliminary stage.
The final of the ASEAN Women’s Futsal Championship 2024 which will also feature Vietnam taking on Thailand will be played on 21 November 2024.
In the meantime, Indonesia fought back for their first full points of the competition when they overpowered Myanmar 7-0.
Fitri Rosdiana was on a double off goals in the 16th and 21st minute as Indonesia made sure of the win through Fitri Sundari (11th), Alya Ananda Hendrita (14th), Ikeu Rosita (23rd), Dinar Kartika Sari (30th) and Agnes Matulapelwa (33rd) for the final scoreline.
Indonesia will take on the Philippines tomorrow to decide which two teams will play in the classification third and fourth placing match.
