Following in the footsteps of his idol Muhammad Zulfahmi Khairuddin, Malaysia’s Moto3 rookie Adam Norrodin today left for Jerez in Spain for his third and final test session before making his debut in the MotoGP world championship at the Qatar MotoGP on 18 to 20 March 2016, riding for the DRIVE M7 SIC Racing Team.
“Fahmi has always been my hero and his success has been my inspiration. With him moving to the WSBK, I am taking over the baton from him to bring glory for Malaysia and the SIC Racing Team,” Adam said.
Yesterday, Fahmi made a positive start in his debut race in Phillip Island, Australia, in this season’s opening race of the Motul FIM World Superbike Championship. Riding for Team Orelac Racing VerdNatura in the Supersport category, Fahmi collected three points when he finished the race in 13th placing, after starting the race in 17th position.
“I am very excited with the upcoming third test in Jerez. There is plenty for me to work on and improve personally as well as on the bike. The first and second test had provided me with plenty of knowledge and experience for me to build on. I sincerely hope the weather is kind to us in Jerez and will allow me and Jakub (Kornfeil) to work as much as possible in preparation for the opening race in Qatar. Jakub and the other team members have been very good to me, providing all the necessary support and guidance that I need,” Adam shared.Â
“Fahmi has also been supportive. We worked closely on our fitness during the pre-season, and we are always in contact. He has provided me with a lot of tips and encouragement. I wish Fahmi all the best in the World Supersports Championship. It’s a pity that he could not realise his target of a Top 10 placing in the opening race in Australia. He was clearly affected by injury on his arm. Nevertheless, I am confident that he will do well in the future races,” said the 18-year old Johor-born rider, who began his racing career on the motocross track from as early as seven years old.
