Sepang – Faizal Che Watan, an administrative officer at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) was delighted to learn that he had emerged as the Grand Prize winner in the Benelli Bike Contest, organised by Sepang International Circuit recently.
The 32-year-old Penangite was the lucky one out of 1,068 participants in the contest that ran from 3 to 26 October 2014, held in conjunction with the Shell Advance Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Sepang International Circuit from 24 to 26 October 2014.
Faizal took home the Grand Prize of a Benelli Century Racer bike valued at RM79,000. The 1,131cc motorcycle is capable of churning out 135 horsepower to blaze through the streets, aptly reflected in his contest slogan entry ‘Blazing Speed, Bikes Galore, unbeatable action and so much more’.
“I’m very happy to win the Benelli Bike Contest. I’m so excited and can’t wait to show the bike to my family and friends when I bring the bike home to Penang. I feel luck is on my side this year. With just a Shell Advance Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix ticket, I won this exciting new bike from Benelli. Thank you Sepang International Circuit and Benelli Keeway Motorcycles,” said the father of two who collected the bike at a prize giving ceremony at Sepang International Circuit.
Sepang International Circuit (SIC) Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Razlan Razali said the contest was a form of appreciation for the fans that came out in full force to support the home Grand Prix.
“The number of spectators that come to see the Grand Prix is rising every year and this is our way to show appreciation to them. The fans are the element that makes the Grand Prix special and memorable. While the riders make the race interesting, the fans make the atmosphere unbelievable at the track,” said Dato’ Razlan.
“On behalf of Benelli Keeway Motorcycles, we would like to congratulate Faizal on winning this contest. As a partner, we are very proud and happy to work with SIC and we are looking forward to collaborating with them again in the near future. We hope Faizal will find great joy riding his new Benelli Century Racer 1130,” said Low Kin Yong, General Manager of Benelli Keeway Motorcycles Sdn Bhd.
