# JDT earn recognition from Federal Government for bring glory to the country
# A cool RM1 million for winning the AFC Cup
Champions are always recognised and Johor Darul Takzim duly earned their recognition from the Federal Government and it came in the form of RM1 million.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak made the presentation in Johor Bahru on Sunday. He presented the RM1 million cheque to Johor FA president Datuk Ismail Karim who is also the Johor State Secretary.
The surprise toook place at the opening ceremony of the Forest City real estate project in this southern city.
The Southern Tigers are JDT are known created Asian and Malaysian football history last year when they defeated Tajikistan club FC Istiklol 1-0 in the final in Dushanbe in on Oct 30.
“JDT have done the country proud and brought glory to Malaysia. It is only fair that the government gives some recognition for that. The money is to further develop the game in the state,” said Najib.
JDT have also won the Malaysian Super League and the Charity Shield for the last two years. After four matches in the league the Southern Tigers are joint top of the 12-team Super League.
They have also qualified for the FA Cup quarter-finals and will play Police for a place in the semi-finals.
