The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) welcomes the decision of the 66th FIFA Congress to lift the suspension on Indonesia from world football.
The announcement that the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) was no longer suspended was made by FIFA President Gianni Infantino in Mexico City.
In response, AFC President and FIFA Vice-President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa said: “We welcome the decision by the Government of Indonesia to lift the decree imposed on football in the country.
“This meant that the FIFA Congress could lift the suspension on Indonesia and we can welcome them back into the Asian football family.
“However, the AFC Executive Committee reiterated this week their continued stand against government intervention in sport generally and football in particular.
“As at their meetings in Delhi last November, Doha in January and Kuala Lumpur in March, the AFC Executive Committee  in Mexico City made it clear that there was no place or justification for government interference.”
AFC officials will meet Indonesian officials to discuss the next steps in respect to competition matters.
