The ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) today announced its unanimous support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino’s re-election bid. Representing 12 nations in the Southeast Asian region, the AFF endorsed Infantino’s candidacy at the AFF Council Meeting held here yesterday.
AFF Deputy President Maj Gen Khiev Sameth, who chaired the AFF Council Meeting yesterday, said: “The Member Associations of AFF have unanimously declared their support for Mr Infantino to continue as the FIFA President.”
The countries affiliated to AFF are Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste and Vietnam.
Infantino, elected FIFA President in February 2016, announced at the FIFA Congress in Moscow in June this year that he would seek re-election as the head of the sport’s world governing body.
The FIFA elections will take place in Paris in June 2019.
