Incumbent Datuk Seri Ahmad Ismail was re-elected as the president of the Sepaktakraw Association of Malaysia for the 2018-2021 session at the association’s elections in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.
Ahmad, who has been in the hot-seat since 2003, romped to 51 votes to16 victory over his challenger Datuk Markiman Kobiran who is also the president of the Selangor Sepaktakraw Association.
Incumbent deputy president Datuk Akramuddin Aziz also retained his post easily, defeating challenger Syed Al Raniri Syed Ahmad Al Edroos 51-14. Syed Al Raniri is the president of the Perlis Sepaktakraw Association.
Johor’s Datuk Abdul Halim Suleiman (62 votes), Sabah’s Datuk Awang Sham Amit (53) and Datuk Sumali Reduan of Federal Territory (51) were elected the vice-presidents. The trio are the presidents of their respective states.
“This year’s elections were hotly contested but let us close ranks and work together to further improve the sport, both, in administration and competitions,” said Ahmad, who is also the president of the Penang Sepaktakraw Association. RIZAL ABDULLAH
