All eyes were on the two players from Kedah – Lim Cayson from Gurun and Tan Jing Er from Sungai Petani – as they made their presence felt on the second day of the Sarawak leg of the Allianz Junior Badminton Championships 2024.
Cayson from SJKC Choong Hwa in Gurun booked his place in the semifinals of the Boys’ Under-13 Singles after beating Stanely Chai Jiun Ping from SMK Chung Hua No.1, 30-15 in the quarterfinals.
His opponent in the semifinals tomorrow would be Chong You Jia from SMK Chung Hua Middle School No.4 here in Kuching.
“The target is still there which is to win the event here in Kuching,” said Cayson.
On the other hand, Jing Er from Regent International School in Sungai Petani breezed through the early rounds of the Girls’ U13 Singles to make the semifinals.
In the quarterfinals, she dumped Arissa Zahra Mohamad Zaki from SK Song Kheng Hai 30-9.
Jing Er will take on Aizalea Izzara Kamarulzaman from SMK Three Rivers in Miri in the semifinals tomorrow.
“I feel confident. Let’s see what happens tomorrow,” added Jing Er.
