Top 10 players that qualify for AJFC Asia in Bangkok, Thailand revealed
Central region were crowned champions of the Allianz Junior Football Camp (AJFC) Malaysia League 2018 after beating Northern region 5-0 in the Grand Finals at Stadium UKM Bangi in Bangi. Â
East Coast region, Southern region, Sarawak and Sabah finished third, fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
AJFC Malaysia League 2018 was held between 24 March and 13 May 2018 where following the five-week long season, Akademi Bolasepak FELDA United (Central), KBB All Star (North), JBFA (South), Kuantan Soccerkids B (East Coast) and JJFC Tenom (Sabah) and Petra Giant FC (Sarawak) were crowned champions of their respective regions.
The top-18 players from each region then formed a regional team that competed for bragging rights at the Grand Finals.
Following the final, the best 10 players that will compete at AJFC Asia in Bangkok, Thailand from 16 to 19 July 2018 was also announced. The selection of the players was based on the on criterias including football skills, tactical awareness, teamwork and temperament.
“I am very happy of the season we had with AJFC this year. We had some fantastic teams, real talent, some great action on the pitch and some upsets along the way but that is what football is all about. It was a tough ask to select just 10 boys to move on to AJFC Asia, but they represent the best of the best this year. I am excited for them. This is what dreams are made of and we wish them they very best in Bangkok,” said Zakri Khir, Chief Executive Officer of Allianz Malaysia Berhad.Â
“I am immensely proud of what we have been able to achieve with AJFC in Malaysia in bringing together our young boys, imparting values such as teamwork and unity and of course being able to shape their future. We love the game, but we love it even better that we can inspire our youngsters and give them the opportunity of a lifetime to train at FC Bayern Munich and experience what it’s like to play professionally. Grassroots football will always be important. And we know that. That is why we do what we do,” added Zakri.
At AJFC Asia, the best two Malaysian players will be selected to attend AJFC in Munich, Germany and train under record 28-time German Champions FC Bayern Munich in Munich, Germany from 27 to 31 August 2018.
The AJFC Malaysia League officially launched in Kuala Lumpur on 2 March 2018 and was open to teams of 18 players aged between 14 to 16 years old. This is the tenth year that the Allianz Junior Football Camp is being held globally.
This year, Malaysia was part of the event for the seventh consecutive year and has thus far witnessed the talents of 5,769 young aspiring footballers.
