Indonesian Anton Subowo was installed the new president of the Badminton Asia Confederation (BAC) after he won the contest unopposed during the BAC’s elections in Wuhan, China. Anton, who is also the secretary-general of the Indonesian BA (PBSI), won after the candidates from India and Thailand withdrew.
Anton replaces former BAC president Malaysian, Tan Sri Nadzmi Salleh, who did not seek re-election. Malaysia, however, will still be represented in the BAC in the form of Tan Sri Ir (Dr.) Mohamed Al-Amin Bin Haji Abdul Majid, who was voted as one of the five Vice-Presidents.
Apart from Mohamed Al-Amin, who is also the BAM deputy president, the four other Vice-Presidents are Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta (India), Ali Almarri (Kuwait), Hideo Takahashi (Japan) and Suraj Dandeniya (Sri Lanka).
South Korea’s Hong Ki Kim has been voted the Secretary-General while Jassem Kanso is the Honorary Treasurer.
