Brunei DS head coach Kwon Oh Son is still confident of making the final rounds of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2018 despite having to overturn a two-goal deficit from the first leg.
In the first match of the qualifiers that was played at the Kuala Lumpur Stadium in Cheras on Saturday, the sultanate side seemed a little disjointed in their offensive play and this led them to scoring just one goal as against Timor Leste’s three.
“We still have another 90 minutes to play and it will be a different frontline,” said Oh Son.
“In the last match, there was a bit of an issue between the midfielders and also the strikers. So for the return tie, we will have a revamp for sure.
“We still have an important away goal so I think that we can still make the next round.”
With the expected appearance of star striker Faiq Jefri Bolkiah for the return tie at Bandar Seri Begawan on Saturday, Brunei will have more firepower.
And with the anticipated bumper crowd for the match, Brunei will be even more motivated to bring the game to Timor Leste to win the tie and book a place in the next round.
“The anger of having lost the first game should motivate them to be better,” said Kwon.
“I think with a few experienced players in the squad, we should be able to make the difference.”
