The Asian Tour will expand its reach further afield with the introduction of live streaming for a selected number of tournaments on www.asiantour.com, starting with the season-opening SMBC Singapore Open this week.
The new and exciting digital initiative will complement its well established global television platform which already covers over 180 countries and territories with a potential reach of more than 750 million households via Asian Tour Media’s large pool of official TV broadcast partners.
The live streaming on the Tour’s official website will be streamed to selected markets which do not have official Asian Tour broadcast partners for their dedicated Live coverage.
For this week’s SMBC Singapore Open, these countries and territories include Myanmar, the Philippines, Vietnam, Czech Republic, Slovakia, the Netherlands, Belgium, Latin America and other selected markets that are not already part of Asian Tour Media’s impressive TV platform.
Asian Tour CEO Josh Burack said: “This new digital offering has been launched to further enhance our tournament coverage to all corners of the globe through our official website. We will obviously respect all of the exclusive TV and digital broadcast deals we already have across the world, so the streaming will be geo-blocked in these markets. For the remaining territories that the Asian Tour is not already telecast, we will stream selected events to expand our viewership even further.
“We believe the live streaming will add a great deal of value to our tournaments, sponsors and our players, as coverage will now be available in territories which do not yet have an official Asian Tour broadcast partner.
“With the game growing so rapidly across Asia, it is our intention to provide easier access to golf fans from anywhere around the world to watch the Asian Tour’s talented players competing in our world-class golf events through our website or our official broadcast partners.”
The Asian Tour is the official sanctioning body for professional golf in the region. Following the SMBC Singapore Open which begins on Thursday, the Tour will head to the Leopalace21 Myanmar Open, which will also be broadcast live across the four days or streamed on www.asiantour.com next week.
