It will be an exciting time for o and its crew this Saturday, 5th September 2015, as they compete in GT Asia Series’ first 3-hour endurance round held at their home race in Sepang International Circuit.
This year, the Series organisers introduced a new challenge for the drivers and team, a three-hour endurance style race where there will be a compulsory driver change and a double point-scoring race.
“It will be an interesting point of the Championship this weekend. So far it has always been either a 40 to 60 minutes race but this is the first time we will have a three hour long session and I am sure everyone is looking forward to it” said Zen Low, Aylezo owner and driver.
Zen, along with Fairuz Fauzy, are looking forward to getting back into the Lamborghini FLII of OD Racing after the disastrous race weekend during the Kuala Lumpur City Grand Prix. The team’s car was involved in a horrible spin that damaged most of the car that weekend. The Aylezo crew have been hard at work to get the car back in form for this weekend.
“The team has done a great job putting everything back together and we now have a brand new front end and everything looks as good as new” said Fairuz. Despite the incident, the team managed to secure a ‘loan’ Lamborghini Huracan, allowing Fairuz to start from the back of the grid and pushing all the way to finish the first Malaysian street-race in second place.
“For the shakedown on Thursday, we are looking forward to it especially heading out after our recent success at the KLGP, which has left me in good spirits and feeling very motivated for the three-hour race” he continued.
Fairuz’s transition into GT racing from single seaters has proven to be interesting as there are many new challenges that he has had to face this year, including being in his ‘first’ GT endurance style race.
“This is the first time I’m in a GT car endurace that is more than an hour, before this I did race during the Sepang 12-hour but our car only lasted one hour. I managed the first stint and the car broke after the second driver” he laughs. “This will be a tough race, especially the weather, which will be really hot and we just hope everything will be alright. We aim to be as far front as possible this weekend, we will see how it goes. ”
Aylezo is the Technical Partner for OD Racing, a newly established team with the sole aim of participating in the most competitive GT Series in the region, the GT Asia Series, in the Lamborghini Gallardo FLII.
