Terengganu football was given a shot in the arm just days before the M-League kicksoff with the Premier League matches on Friday.
With the Super League scheduled for kickoff on Saturday the East Coast State’s two teams were given a timely boost by Terengganu Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman who is also the Terengganu FA president.
Terengganu will have two teams in the elite Super League – Terengganu who are nicknamed The Turtles – and T-Team (nicknamed The Titans).
Ahmad Razif, at the launching of the teams in Kuala Terengganu on Thursday said both teams will be given equal treatment in terms of sponsorship by the Terengganu State Government much to the delight of the teams and the supporters of the teams.
“There will be no disparity in terms of budget. The state government will give equal budget to both teams. They will be treated fairly and equally,” said Ahmad Razif, adding that T-Team will be known as Terengganu FC II.
“It is our hope and wish to see the two teams fighting for honours for the state. It will be nice to see a final between our two teams.”
Meanwhile, Terengganu have finalised their foreign quota with the signing of Argentine striker Juan Jose Morales to beef up their strikeforce. Morales checked into Kuala Terengganu on Tuesday.
Terengganu open their Super League campaign with a home match against newly promoted Penang at the Sultan Mizan Stadium in Gong Badak on Saturdaty.
The East Coast giants have retained their long serving and trust Cameroonian defender Vincent Bikana, Argentine midfielder and dead ball specialist Gustavo Lopez and Canadian striker Issey Nakajima.
Adding muscle to the team under coach Ahmad Yusof are new signings, defender Amiridzwan Taj Tajuddin from Kelantan, midfielder Joseph Kalang Tie (Sarawak) and Penang defender Yong Kuong Yong.
