It was high individual scores as Felda United and Kuala Lumpur bounced back into contention in the Malaysia Cup competition with big wins over Police and Felcra FC respectively on Sunday.
Felda United after a scoreless draw against Melaka United in their first match blasted Police 5-0 at the Hang Jebat Stadium in Melaka with Brazilian scoring machine Thiago Augusto hitting a grand hat-trick.
Augusto opened the scoring for the Fighters in the 55th minute and fittingly also closed the scoring for the Premier League champions in the 89th minute after netting his second in the 80th minute.
In between Gilberto Fortunato (58th, penalty) and skipper Shukur Adan (71st) scored for Felda United to take the team to the top of Group B with four points after two matches.
PKNS FC is second in the group standings also with four points with Melaka United in the third spot with two points and Police at the bottom without a point.
At the KLFA Stadium in Cheras, City Boys Kuala Lumpur thrashed Felcra FC 4-1 to haul themselves into contention after the 5-1 defeat to Terengganu in their opening Group A match.
Again it was a Brazilian who stole the limelight with Guilherme De Paula scoring all four goals for K. Lumpur against Felcra FC. De Paula opened the floodgates in the sixth minute from the penalty spot.
He added three more in the 73rd, 85th and 90th minutes to steal the limelight for K. Lumpur who changed their coach after the big defeat to Terengganu. The new man at the helm is Chong Yee Fatt, who replaced Brazilian Fabio Maciel.
Felcra FC’s solitary goal came through Nazrul Kamaruzzaman in the 84th minute.
Terengganu lead Group A with six points from two wins with K. Lumpur second on three points. Perak and Felcra have one point each. RIZAL ABDULLAH
