Brunei Darussalam and Timor-Leste will face off over two legs of a qualifying round on October 8 and 15 to determine the final line-up for the group stage of the ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup™ 2024.

The pair will meet in Brunei in the first leg before meeting again seven days later in Chonburi, Thailand with the winners of the two-legged clash joining seven-times champions Thailand, along with Malaysia, Singapore and Cambodia in Group A of the Mitsubishi Electric Cup™ 2024.

Brunei will be looking to complete back-to-back appearances in the main phase of the keenly contested regional competition to crown ASEAN’s top national team after featuring in the group stage in 2022, the first time the nation had qualified since the inaugural championship in 1996.

Currently ranked 183rd on the FIFA Rankings, Brunei confirmed their appearance at the 2022 finals with a 6-3 aggregate victory over Timor-Leste in a qualifying round playoff and will be looking to repeat that outcome to confirm their place in the Mitsubishi Electric Cup™ 2024.

Timor-Leste, placed 196th in the FIFA Rankings, will be attempting to secure a fourth appearance in the group phase having previously played in 2004, 2018 and 2020.

Mitsubishi Electric Cup™ 2024 also features Vietnam, winners in 2008 and 2018, and Indonesia, the Philippines, Myanmar and Laos in Group B.
