Brunei will be hoping to improve on the four bronzes they won in Pahang two years ago when they take part in the 17th edition of the SUKMA which will be held in Perlis on 24 May to 4 June.
The Sultanate side picked up the four bronze medals through pencak silat (three) and another from cycling.
For this yearâs event which will offer 396 gold, 396 silver and 473 bronzes, Brunei will be represented by 25 athletes where they will compete in athletics, karatedo, pencak silat, sepak takraw and taekwondo.
âTwo years ago we (pencak silat) came back home with three bronze medals. This year weâre looking to do better than that,â said national pencak silat coach Hasan Awang Hj Tuah.
âI believe that with our current squad, it is possible. Weâve been training since early January and we have some young but talented and skillful members.â
