FORMER West Ham United and West Bromwich Albion defender Peter Butler was named the coach of African football minnows Botswana today.
The 47-year-oldâs immediate task will be to prepare for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, with the draw in April and the first fixtures the following month.
Botswana reached the Africa finals for the first time in 2012, but have slumped since, leading to the sacking of Stanley Tshosane last year.
It will be the first African post for Butler, who made his playing debut in 1984 and coached from 2000 in England, Australia and South East Asia.
His last coaching job was in Malaysia, with a club side from the state of Terengganu called T-Team.
