Cambodian athletes will be well rewarded financially if they strike gold in the 29th Kuala Lumpur SEA Games.
An individual gold is worth $3,000 while a team gold is worth $5,000 – courtesy of Nagaland – a long time partner of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia. On top of that Nagaland will contribute $500 to NOCC for each gold medal won.
Meanwhile Prime Minister Hun Sen handed a personal “gift” of $500 to each member of the Kuala Lumpur Sea Games bound contingent in Phnom Penh last week.
Hun Sen personally handed over the “gift packets” during a reception for the 176-strong Cambodian contingent.
The Phnom Penh Post reported that the “gift” is an increase of $200 from the amount he had given the contingent for the 2015 Sea Games in Singapore.
For the Kuala Lumpur 2017 29th SEA Games most of the Cambodia teams trained overseas.
Those who made their training bases overseas will fly directly to Kuala Lumpur from their respective training venues.
The rest of the Cambodian contingent will leave for Kuala Lumpur on Aug 16. – BY RIZAL ABDULLAH
