Singapore SEA Games silver medalist Khoo Chai Lin hopes to add another event to her competition list in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics in Brazil.
Chai Lin, a veteran swimmer in the national team, who has already earned her ticket to Rio by setting a time of four minutes 17.79 seconds to win the women’s 400m Freestyle silver medal at the Singapore SEA Games in June is hoping to add the 800m Freestyle event as well.
“The time of 4:17.79s set during the Singapore SEA games has already given me a ticket to Rio but I hope to qualify for the 800m as well. I am also hoping to set a better time in the 400m Freestyle,” she told reporters after receiving incentives for her achievements from the Higher Education Ministry, here today.
Chai Lin said though she has time on her side to qualify, she hopes to qualify for the 800m as soon as possible because by end of the year she wants to focus on training and preparation for the Olympics plus her education and not competition.
The elite swimmer, 26, pursuing a double degree in Public Relations and Marketing and School of Communication at Taylor’s University said time management was important for her to shuttle between training and studies. – BERNAMA
